GCD 76-19LOW COST SELF ALIGNING STRAPDOWN ATTITUDE ANDHEADING REFERENCE SYSTEMABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSUREApparatus including two two-degree-of-freedomgyroscopes and at least two accelerometers mounted on a turn-table on a vehicle. The turntable can be positioned abouta vehicle vertical axis in one or the other of two positions180 degrees apart for alignment. After alignment, theturntable is caged into its zero degree position, and theinstruments thereafter operate in a strap-down mode with theyaw, roll and pitch angles of the vehicle computed by computermechanisms which are sensitive to signals from the gyroscopesand accelerometers.
