41PR-3273ABSTRACTA control circuit controls AC energization of auniversal, series wound AC motor in a circuit breakermotor operator to power a breaker charging cycle. Atthe end of a charging cycle, the motor field windingremains energized from the AC source, however a brakingresistor is switched across the de-energized motor arma-ture to achieve dynamic braking. A timing circuit oper-ates in the dual capacity of controlling dynamic motorbraking and preventing continued running of the motoroperator should the breaker operating mechanism fail toreset during a charging cycle.
