Apparatus for determining gas tension in a liquid

An apparatus is provided for determining gas tension in a liquid. Liquid is withdrawn from a reservoir by a pump (P3) which also serves to pump a gas used for thermostatting purposes. The gas is entrained in the liquid at a junction (4), and the gas and liquid then passes through a coil (5). The thermostatting gas is then detrained at a junction (6) and pumped away by the pump (P3). The thermostatted liquid enters a chamber (16) where a reaction may take place in which the tension of gas (for example oxygen) varies. The varying gas tension in the chamber is detected by a sensor (10). One use for the apparatus is in a glucose analyzer which uses a glucose oxidation reaction.
