Centrifugal governor for IC engine fuel injection pump - has idling spring acting against curved support for progressive stiffness

The IC engine fuel injection pump centrifugal governor is driven by shaft (1) and provides fuel pump control through link (4). The manual input is through link (15). The linkages are arranged so that spring (24) controls the idling behaviour of the engine. As it deflects, it rolls over a curved support (25) so that its stiffness changes progressively. When acting with the upper support (27) it replaces the normal idling spring. At the other end (28) it functions as the additional idling spring. This arrangement prevents rough running of the engine when idling.
