The engine has a cylindrical casing with inlet and exhaust ports (E,A) in a stationary wall part and a spark plug (Z) arranged along its circumference. A shaft through the centre of the casing is surrounded by a hollow, concentric shaft. Discs on the ends of the shafts carry vanes which project radially and overlap each other axially. They extend radially across the annular space within the casing round the shafts. The shafts are connected to the output shaft by linkages such that they oscillate relative to each other, while completing one revolution inside the casing. The vanes, acting as pistons, thus enclose variable volume working spaces.
