Ice and smooth snow thawing agent contg. magnesium or calcium chloride - in porous mechanical neutralising agent to prevent caking and extent effect

Melting agent for ice and smooth snow areas is based on substances (I) lowering the m.pt., i.e. MgCl2 and/or CaCl2, and mechanical neutralising agent (II), (II) being a porous material with (I) embedded in its pores. Pref. (II) consists of pumice or Ca silicate. The agent can also contain a dyestuff, corrosion inhibitor and artificial fertiliser and/or other plant nutrients. Although (I) are very hygroscopic, (II) prevents caking. The effect of the agent is extended, since (I) are released slowly. MgCl2 is nontoxic and chemically neutral. The amt. of (I) needed is less than with NaCl and (I) cause less corrosion and environmental pollution.
