Dust control compsn. for mines - contg. wetting agent loaded into porous calcium aluminosilicate, for use in calcium chloride cartridge

Salt component for controlling dust in mines consists of (a) CaCl2 and (b) a wetting agent (I) which is embedded in CaAl silicate (II) in the cartridge. The ratio (I):(II) can be adjusted to meet particular requirements. (I) is esp. Na sulphosuccinate ester and the (I):(II) wt. ratio suitably 1:1. (I) and (II) are pressed into briquettes which may be (a) incorporated directly into the CaCl2 cartridge or (b) used as independent pellets added to the cartridge in the metering device. By using (I) as a briquette with (II), it is released to the the water only from the surface, so that good dosing is achieved and the water passing through can be transferred to the nozzle without formation of suspension or residue (which form when (I) is used without (II) and may block pipes and nozzles).
