The exhaust manifold is for fuel-air mixture burning vehicle engines. It has one or more branches leading to a single or multi-passage exhaust-pipe connection stub. The combustion air is filtered. Along the outside of at least one branch runs a pipe through which filtered air is drawn and heated by the exhaust, before entering the stub passage via an externally-operable metering valve. Short pipes link individual valves where multiple passages are used. The pipe run may alternatively be inside the manifold branch.
