The airgun with a pellet magazine has a loading ram at the breech end moving in the axial direction of the barrel so as to thrust the pellets into it from the magazine. The magazine (16) slides at right angles to the barrel axis (26) between its breech end (14) and the end of the ram (28), and has passages for the pellets parallel to this axis, brought in turn into line with the barrel bore. The ram can be a hollow sleeve connected to the end of a sliding cylinder containing a piston spring-loaded towards the barrel. Retraction of the cylinder moves the piston into the cocked position, and when the ram thrusts the pellet into the barrel its end forms a seal against the latter.
