摘要
A treatment process for coal to facilitate its later hydrogenation comprises heating the dried powdered coal for about 20 min. in a stirred autoclave with solvent vapour at a temp. about 20 deg.C above its b.pt. The solvent can be heavy benzole (coal tar light oil), heavy gasoline, or a mixt. of the two, all with b.pt about 200 deg.C. The concn. of solvent is about 5-10 wt.% of the coal. After heating under pressure, it is sprayed into the autoclave, where the total pressure reaches about 2 atm. After the treatment, the solvent is recovered by distn. from the coal, and the coal is then slurried and hydrogenated in known ways. When the coal is later slurried and hydrogenated, the yield of oil is increased, and much less solvent is required.
