The machine is mounted on a tractor and comprises a fixed vertical centre frame (1) which carries two arms (11,12). Each of these is an inverted L-shape and pivoted (13) top and bottom to a subframe. One top cutter and two side cutters are provided for each frame (14,15,16). This sub-frame comprises upper (2) and lower (3) tubes pivoting centrally (4,5) on the centre frame. Each tube slides telescopically to adjust to the distance between rows. The sub frame can be adjusted vertically, using a hydraulic cylinder (17), to allow for differences in levels between adjacent rows.
