The treatment chair comprises a parallelogram lifting linkage with one arm raising and lowering the frame and the parts of the chair supporting the patient. The base hinge points of the linkage are on a bracket at the front of the chair and the upper ones at the rear. The chair comprises a seat section with a leg support hinged to it. The parts supporting the patient are coupled to a truck (14) movable in the lengthwise direction in relation to the frame (7). A control mechanism (9) causes the truck to move rearwards as the linkage moves upwards, and forwards as it moves downwards. In the lowermost position the truck is far enough forward for the leg support (16) to swing down vertically in front of the bearing brackets (4).
