The heat exchanger uses a bread-baking oven to heat a liquid, incorporating a jacket of pipes mounted in it. Combustion gases (4) are directed round the oven (1) by a butterfly shutter (5) controlling both their ingress and exit, the oven being increased in size by a vaulted portion. The equipment can be supplied in the form of a modification kit, and the angle of the shutter can be used to regulate the rate of combustion of the wood or other fuel used.
