METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR FINISHING COATED PAPER

PURPOSE:To give a strong gloss on coated paper without spoiling an advantage of gloss calendar process, etc., by lowering a temperature of coated layer of the coated paper lower than that of finishing roll surface between the first and second finishing steps of the gloss calendar process, etc. CONSTITUTION:Coated film of the coated paper 1 carried coated layer, is pressed by the roll 1 and is heated and then is plasticized when the paper 1 is passed through the first gap between the finishing roll 2 having mirror-like metal surface, heated more than glass rearrangement point of synthetic resin emulsion of applied layer and the pressure roll 3. Next, the coated layer is contacted with the cooling roll 6 and is cooled and then is solidified lowering the surface temperature 30 deg.C or more than that of the roll 2. Then, the paper 1 is sent to the second gap 2 between the rolls 2 and 4 and is contacted pressing with the roll 2. By the above process, degree of white color gloss of the coated layer face, is heightened and superior smooth property is obtained.
