In a process for producing solutions of hardly soluble substances and/or substances tending to agglomerate, by introducing the solid into a vigorously agitated solvent, and in an apparatus for carrying out the process, fine gas bubbles are added to the solvent at least during the addition of the solid. This is effected by means of a mixing device which is designed in the manner of an ejector with a downstream addition station for the solid and is located in the region close to the bottom of a dissolving tank. The addition station for the solid is located in the upper region of the dissolving tank and has a charging hopper (14) whose outlet orifice (15) is divided by webs (16). After the valve (3) has been opened, water flows via the line (2) into the tank (1). The water jets issuing from the nozzles (9) draw in air from the annular space (11), which air, dispersed to fine bubbles in the water jet, emerges with the jet through the bores (10) in the tank (1). The webs (16) of the charging hopper (14) ensure that the solid runs in uniformly in a finely dispersed stream. IMAGE
