A drive assembly for the driving axles of railway vehicles having an electric traction motor (1) which is arranged in the longitudinal direction of the railway vehicle and whose torque is transmitted to the driving axle (3) by means of gears (2) and couplings (5), wherein the housings which accomodate the stator (11) of the traction motor, the bearing and the gears, are connected to one another and appertures for the passage of the driving axle are arranged in on housing component, wherein a hollox carrier (8) is used as a common housing for all driving components, which hollow carrier has suitable assembly intersections for inserting the driving components and in the wall of which carrier cooling channels (10) formed by ribs (9) or recesses, are arranged, and wherein at one or both end faces of the hollow carrier (8), a separate ventilator (12) is arranged which supplies the end openings (14) of the cooling channels (10) of the hollow carrier (8) with cooling air.
