078098-A BWLCORRODIBLE CONTAINER FOR AUTOMATIC ADDITION OFCORROSION INHIBITOR TO A COOLANT SYSTEMAbstract of the DisclosureA corrodible container (28, 32, 35, 38, 39, 42,44, 53, 57, 58, 65, 69, 79, 86, 93) for the storage ofa corrosion inhibitor (29, 37, 41, 43, 45, 71, 72,73, 74, 81, 87, 94) to be suitably located in thecoolant system of an automotive vehicle or otherenvironment wherein the container has at least aportion thereof formed of substantially the samematerial as the material forming the heat exchangedevice in a coolant system so as to corrode when thecoolant is partially or wholly replaced by a corrosiveliquid such as water. More specifically, an aluminumradiator has a tendency to corrode rapidly wherecorrosive water is present and the container for thecorrosion inhibitor has at least a portion thereofformed of aluminum foil or aluminum sheet material witha thinner portion so that the foil or thinner portionwill corrode through to release the corrosion inhibitorinto the coolant to minimize corrosion of the heatexchanger and coolant system.
