The auxiliary appliance, esp. in furniture making, is for drilling dowel plug holes in boards or other workpieces which are to be plugged together. This involves a plate (1), with handle (9) and with socket-lined (4) guiding hole (5) for a drill. This has two round lugs (7, 8) on one side, diametral to the guiding hole. There is an elongated slot (12) as wide as the hole, and a plug-tapping piece (10), with flat surface (11), with slot lengthways walling sections in planes parallel to the guiding hole axial plane and vertical to the flat surface for fitting boards. This is universally applicable, and permits exact centering of drilled holes regardless of board thickness.
