In the production of concrete roads, the longitudinal dowels are set by means of supporting baskets which are incorporated in recesses prepared beforehand by the subdivided stripping plate of the finisher and continuing up to the road bed. For this purpose, the stripping plate forms in the direction of travel behind each recess a heap of concrete which a downstream stripping apparatus channels into the recess. The second stripping apparatus is guided behind the finisher since the supporting baskets have to be incorporated beforehand. Then the cross-dowels are also set individually by means of another vehicle and a vibrating apparatus. The invention is based on the object of providing a moving apparatus which sets the dowel automatically and dispenses with both the personnel required hitherto and the supporting baskets for positionally accurate orientation of the dowels. This object is achieved with a moving apparatus in which the first stripping apparatus dips into the concrete subbase only as far as the subsequent bearing level of the longitudinal dowels and forms a shallow recess into which dowel laying devices arranged in the apparatus deposit the longitudinal dowels automatically. The concrete suspension produced beforehand by the stripping apparatus is channelled into the recess by means of the second stripping apparatus. Advantageously a digging member is also incorporated in the apparatus, which member produces short transverse grooves for in each case one cross-dowel, a transverse stirrup laying apparatus arranged behind the digging member depositing the cross-dowels individually. A smoothing board also integrated in the apparatus and having a stripping plate then also fills up the transverse grooves with the inserted cross-dowels so that the finished concrete road cover having a plane and smooth surface is present behind the vehicle.
