Process for the manufacture of animal feed material from cereals, such as for example corn cob mix, which is ground, mixed and then stored in a silo from which it is withdrawn and fed, with a predetermined moisture content, to animals, characterised in that, before its storage, the cereal is mixed and enriched in a mixing container, by the addition of water and/or inoculation materials as catalysts for accelerating the formation of lactic acid and/or protein components, to a dough-like paste-like storage material with a moisture content of 55% to 60%, and is then stored under the known exclusion of air in the silo left there and withdrawn therefrom after the formation of a predetermined amount of lactic acid.
