To silence the noise in office machines, particularly in the case of EDP printers, a sound-insulating mat, preferably of foam material, is provided on which the EDP printer rests in a floating manner, the mat being stepped in the area of air inlet and outlet openings so that the sound waves emerging at these points impinge on the mat.
