The top bracket for bicycle handlebars, uses a locking system without projecting screws and is designed to prevent injury to the rider. The frame (1) has a muff shaped part (2) through which the handlebars (5) passes, the muff having an enlarged part forming a lobe at the rear. Inside the lobe is a chamber (6) for a locking piece (8) which is crescent shaped in cross-section. This piece is forced inwards against the handlebar, acting as a wedge, by two recess headed screws (10). The threads of each screw engage internal threads of an insert (12) fitted through the lobed part.
