The wheel bearing is used on the front drive wheels of an automobile. It has two identical co-axial ball bearing races (24, 25) at an axial intercal, and contoured externally (31) and internal (32, 33) sleeves to form the tracks and position the balls. One of the sleeves is in two pieces (32, 33) with the division on the central radial plane (34) of the assembly. The two pieces are secured by circlips (35, 36) at the axial extremities of the one piece sleeve (31). The clips lock onto the bore of the one piece sleeve and provide continuous circular shoulders (35c, 36c) limiting axial float of the balls. Those maintaining the integrity of the sleeve assembly during withdrawal. Each clip is of a winged 'U' section steel band with one wing (35b) engaging a groove (31c) in the one piece sleeve, being utilised with a clip on 'U' section cover washer (39, 40) contg. a rubber seal (41, 42).
