The earthing cable clamp comprises a body (1) having an upper forked portion between which two jaws (2a,2b) are pivoted, biassed into an open attitude by a coil spring. A freely rotatable head (3.5) is carried by a screw-threaded rod (3.2) passing vertically through the body base, the head contacting between rounded bosses (2.3a,b) on the base of each jaw. The lower end of the rod (3.2) has a hexagonal base (3.1) engageable by a pole (4) and rotatable thereby to screw the rod into the body and cause the head to force the two jaws to close on the cable. The two jaws carry freely pivotable shoes (2.6a,b) which grip the cable ensuring full contact with the cable. The contact shoes are connected by a metal strap to the clamp body. A lower mounted pivot lever (3.7) on the body is biassed to engage recesses (4.2) in the pole head to prevent free rotation of the latter relative to the body.
