The body (1) of the appts. is placeable on a thermostatically controlled enclosure (2) which can be plugged into the mains shortly before use. A closable handle (4) is provided on the body (1) and has a rounded cross-section to permit a better grip. The body (1) is applied on the face via its lower surface (10) which is shaped by continuous concave and convex curves extending along a longitudinal plane. The radial section of the lower surface (10) is curved. Pref. a cavity (11) formed within the body (1) communicates with the lower surface (10) through a series of holes (12). A plastic foam fills the cavity (11) and is intended to contain an aqueous skin treatment solution. The cavity (1) is refilled simply by immersing the lower surface into a container filled with the solution.
