3-O-ACYL-4'-DEOXYDESMYCOSIN DERIVATIVE AND ITS PREPARATION

NEW MATERIAL:The compound of formula I [R1 is lower alkyl, (substituted) phenyl or phenyl(lower alkyl)] or its salt. EXAMPLE:3-O-Acetyl-4''-deoxydesmycosin. USE:Antibacterial agent, remedy for infectious diseases of animals, and feed additive effective even to resistant bacteria. PREPARATION:The compound of formula I can be prepared e.g. by (1) acylating the 3-hydroxyl group of the compound of formula II (R is OH-protecting group; R5 is H or OR4) (e.g. 2',4'-di-O-acetyl-4''-deoxydesmycosin) with the carboxylic acid of formula R1-COOH or its reactive derivative (e.g. acetic anhydride) in an inert organic solvent, and (2) eliminating the protecting group of the hydroxyl group.
