WATER SEAL FOR GATE VALVE

PURPOSE:To smooth the sliding action of a seal ring, by making the outer diameter of the ring on the water side larger than that on the other side for inhibiting any increase in contact pressure at the moment the seal is closed. CONSTITUTION:The outer diameter D1 on the liquid side of a seal ring 20 is larger than the outer diameter D3 on the other side. This can increase the pressure receiving area of the ring on the liquid side to provide the ring with self-operated control and to inhibit any increase in contact pressure with a valve seat 14A at the moment the seal is closed. Thus water is duely sealed and the slide action of the seal ring 20 is kept smooth.
