The tripod is made of wood and has the outer legs covered with transparent glass and aluminium, reinforced with a 20 mm U-section aluminium extrusion. The leg extensions are also formed of wood with the ends covered with 32 mm diameter aluminium tube, and rubber. The platform is made completely of aluminium and is circular with the leg supports in a star arrangement. - The pistons which open the legs of the tripod are attached to galvanised plates which allow them to pivot freely. A control motor which operating from a 12 volt battery or from a mains transformer allows the platform to be raised, with a load of up to 15 kg through a height of 300 mm at a speed of 100 mm per minute.
