The mechanism includes two side plates (5) supported by a block (3) which has a pivot spindle (4), which also connects the two plates. The plates are further secured by transverse rods (6,7). The force of a spring (8) connected to the block acts on one rod (7) and keeps the plates in such a position that a point (9) of the plate takes up the lowest position. The other rod (6) is under pressure from the front block (10) which is rotatable on a vertical spindle (11) and lockable by a wing nut (12). The block has an inclined stepped surface (19) of which a part lies against the rod (6) to limit the movement of the plates (5). When the block is turned the other way, the rod (6) contacts a lower part of a surface (13), causing the plate to swing and lift its points (9) above the ski bottom surface.
