Cross-country ski braking mechanism - has lateral rear ward pointing plates which trail during forward movement, but act as brake when sliding back
On the top surface (1) of the ski (2) is a fixture plate (3) which supports a hinge spindle (4) which pivotally connects two side plates (5). The plates are further connected by a bridge part. A spring (7), which is coiled around the spindle (4), wears on the bridge part, to keep the plates in their lowest position. The bridge part is carried by a pin (9), fixed to the plate (3). The pin has an incision in which pins the bridge part can rest. The pin arrangement ensures that hand or ski-stick pressure on the bridge part activates the brake when sliding backwards.
