ABSTRACTClear stable gels are made from hydrogenated maltosecontaining starch hydrolysates having 25-94% maltitol, 2-30sorbitol, and minor amounts of higher saccharides by theaddition of amorphous silica gelling agents. These gels areuseful in formulating cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, confectionsand food specialties. They are particularly useful inpreparing clear gel toothpaste compositions.
