The scanning system has an amplifier whose output signal passes back to its input via a feedback circuit containing a switch, a capacitor, and a comparator. The feedback circuit has a transconductance amplifier between the switch. This amplifier's input receives the output from the amplifier via a clamping capacitor and its output passes back to its input via a feedback switch. The feedback switch is closed during the clamping interval and the other switch is open. During the next interval, the switch is closed and the feedback switch is open. The transconductance amplifier has a reference input for clamping.
