In an on-line system comprising a CPU and a terminal (5) in connection with each other via a communication line, the initial program loading system is arranged that an auxiliary memory (10) connected to the terminal houses two types of system programs and on introducing a source to the terminal, the load in the terminal finds whether the source was introduced by a call signal from CPU or by manual operation at the terminal and the result of finding makes a selected system program load from the auxiliary memory (10) to the main memory (8) in the terminal.
