The burner has a pressure nozzle, a mixing nozzle connected after this in the flow direction, a mixing tube adjoining the mixing nozzle and merging into a mouthpiece with welding nozzle, and with protection against backflash. In order to prevent an unstable behaviour of the welding burner in the operating region of interest, a Helmholtz resonator is connected to this as a backflash protection in the region of the mixture-conducting flow channel, and has a natural frequency equal to or greater than the natural frequency of the flow channel.
