The appts. consists of a vertical guide for a carrier tube (a) which is driven up and down. On the bottom end of tube (a) is a holder tube (b) which can be moved vertically inside tube (a); and a measuring probe can be pushed onto the bottom end of tube (b). The upper end of tube (b) is pref. attached to the bottom end of a rod (c), which may also consist of a tube, and the top end of which has a coupling flange for a hoist so tube (b) can be drawn completely into tube (a). Allow simple replacement of a used probe by a new probe, esp. where tube (a) may be over 20 m long and the probe 2 m long.
