The gas saving device is implanted in a pipe system connecting a control valve outlet (D) to the inlet (13) of a pressure-user apparatus. A first passage (3,5,7,18a,13) traverses a seat (6) in the body of the device. The passage is closed off by a valve (24) biased towards the seat (in opposition to the pressure of gas flowing from the outlet by a spring member (26), the effect of which is adjustable in intensity by a hand-operated plug (19). A second passage (16,14,4) in the body constitutes a by-pass of the first passage, short-circuiting the spring-biased valve (24). A one-way valve (17) permits the flow of gas from the inlet via the second passage, to the outlet.
