The feed uses a cleaning rotor (1) to pass produce (4) to an elevator (17) and is for harvesting of root crops such as sugar beet. An auxiliary apron (7) partially surrounding the foot of the elevator conveys the produce from the rotor to the elevator, serving both to receive the produce and to tip it, with reception carried out beneath the elevator. The apron may comprise transverse bars (9) spanning two lateral endless chains (8). It may pass over larger discs (11) on the same axis as the bottom elevator rollers (16), and may form a pocket with a horizontal and upward inclined parts extending to the underside of the rotor and following the elevator respectively. The apron may also pass over two return pulleys (10,12) sited below the rotor and above the foot of the elevator, in addition to traversing tensioning pulleys (15).
