HEAT INSULATING LAYER OF LOW-TEMPERATURE LIQUID STORAGE TANK

PURPOSE:To release the temperature stress of a heat insulating layer, facilitate the construction, and improve the reliability by applying notches in a predetermined pattern to a predetermined depth after foaming is completed in the heat insulating construction of a tank by spray-foaming. CONSTITUTION:Notches 4a are applied on the inner surface of a heat insulating layer 4. Vertical notches 4a on the side wall are extended as they are onto the bottom surface to form notches 4a at corner sections. When the whole tank is cooled to allow the acceptance of a low-temperature liquid, notches 4a on the surface of the heat insulating layer 4 are opened to mitigate the stress occurrence on the surface. In this case, a temperature gradient is generated in the depth direction of the heat insulating layer 4, thus the opening of notches 4a becomes narrower as seen at a deeper place of the heat insulating layer 4 and is zero at the deepest section.
