PURPOSE:To know the state of a device at optional time by judging a unit where a trouble occurs, recording the judged result on a recording medium and stopping the function of the unit, and allowing another unit to function. CONSTITUTION:If a trouble occurs, the occurrence of the trouble is displayed on a CRT display part 7, and a state code indicating what kind of trouble occurs is displayed on a control panel 28. The state code is printed on a journal in a slip/journal issuing unit 25, a card or bankbook is returned to a customer, and a timer circuit 219 is put in operation. When the timer circuit 219 enter a time-out state, information on the unit where the trouble occurs is stored in a main memory 202. When a manual halt button is pressed down before the timer circuit 219 enters the time-out state, manual halt processing is performed.
