摘要
1423105 Briquetting coal calcinate FMC CORP 2 April 1974 [9 April 1973] 14574/74 Heading C5E Briquettes are produced from mixtures of bituminous binder and reactive coal calcinates by heating (e.g. in a fluidized bed) ground coal to at least 250‹ F. and below tar producing temperatures in the presence of oxygen, shockheating the resulting heated coal particles to tar producing temperature in a fluidized bed carbonizer or series of them, to remove substantially all of the condensitic vapour overhead, further heating (e.g. in a fluidized bed) the particles to higher temperatures to remove non-condensible volatiles to produce a reactive coal calcinate that contains at least 1% by wt. of hydrogen, cooling the calcinate in an inert atmosphere to a temperature at which it can be handled in air, applying water to the calcinate whereby it absorbs at least 3% of water based on the weight of calcinate, then mixing the wetted calcinate and coke oven pitch into a compressible blend, briquetting the blend, curing the green briquettes in an O 2 containing atmosphere to cause a reaction to occur between the calcinate and the pitch. The starting coal may be any rank from lignite to anthracite. The cured briquettes may be subsequently coked to briquettes with a volatile content of under 3% by weight.
