The filling material between the limiting surfaces of the drill hole and the heat exchanger is granular mineral, pref. quartz sand or another mineral mixture with high quartz content. It is reduced by sieving etc. to a grain size range within the limits 0.1 to 10 mm. It has a heat conduction property exceeding 2.1 W/mK. The heat exchanger is moved longitudinally and/or transversally in the drill hole as the filling material is fed into the hole. The filling material is activated by a vibration movement to dispose it towards low porosity. To produce the movements of the heat exchanger, thrust waves are transmitted in the fluid filling it. These waves are produced with intervals adjusted so that the reflected thrust waves are not damped out.
