14ABSTRACT OF DISCLOSUREA non-catalytic method for extending thelife of the metal parts of an automobile mufflerwhich comprises placing an adsorbent mass,preferably of crystalline zeolitic molecular sieve,in the internal space thereof, in sufficient amountto prevent condensation of water vapor from theengine exhaust gases on the walls thereof afterengine shutdown. This procedure significantlyinhibits corrosion of the metal parts.
