ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSUREA primary suspension system for a railway car comprises acombined spring formed of two or more leaf springs having an elongateliner element disposed therebetween to provide damping. The combinedspring is joined at opposite ends to top and bottom portions of aside frame of the car and is configured to provide vertical andhorizontal portions for vertical and longitudinal compliance. A portionof the leaf spring is curved to wrap around a portion on the wheeljournal bearing and rest on the top thereof.
