ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSUREReducible dye releasers of formula I (q = 0) arc used for the produc-tion of cyan image dyes in the dye diffusion transfer process. The dye re-leasers are used together with electron donor compounds in association to ~silver halide emulsion layer. On development they release in image distribu-tion diffusible cyan phthalocyanine dyes of formula I (q = 1) which exhibit im-proved stability to light.(I)whereinMPc represents a tetravalent phthalocyanine radical corresponding to the formulaR1, R2, R3 represent hydrogen, halogen, alkyl, alkoxy, aryl or acylamino, or R2and R3 complete a condensed ring,R4 represents hydrogen or alkyl,R5 represents hydrogen, halogen or alkyl, alkoxy or acylamino each withup to 4 carbon atoms,R6, R7 represent hydrogen or alkyl, alkenyl, aryl or R6 and R7 togetherrepresent the radical needed to complete a saturated 5- or 6-memberedring, wherein R6 and R7 together contain not more than 7 carbon atoms,Ka? represents a cationp = 0, 1 or 2,q = 0 (for dye releaser);= 1 (for released dyes),wherein at least one of the radicals R1, R2, R3 and R4 contains a ballastingradical.
