In a housing, such as the cabinet or case of a record player, whose upper side can be closed by a dust cover (10) comprising a sliding section (11, 26) of inverted U-shaped cross-section having a central upper portion (12, 27) and two side portions (13, 28) which adjoin the upper portion, the cover also comprises a pivotal front section (16, 30) which is of U-shaped cross-section and comprises a central front portion (17, 32; 41) and two side portions (18, 33). Near the front corners the housing of the player is formed with guide slots (19, 34), the ends of the slots cooperating with the side portions of the front section to guide a pivotal movement of the front section. The front section and the sliding section are provided with coupling means (23,12a; 24,25; 35,36; 42,12a) which in the horizontal position of the central front portion constitute a coupling between the front section and the sliding section in such a manner that the sliding section is slid back with the front section in the horizontal position of the central front portion of this section in which horizontal position the central front portion of the front section extends substantially parallel to the central upper portion of the sliding section.
