This invention relates to 1'-[3-(1,2-benzisoxazol-3-yl)propyl]spiro[benzofuran-2(3H), 3' or 4'-piperidines or 3'-pyrrolidines] of the formula:where X and Y are the same or different and are hydrogen, halogen, lower alkoxy, lower alkyl, nitro, hydroxyl and CF₃; and n is an integer of 1 or 2; m is an integer of 2 or 3; and the sum of m and n is 3 or 4, the pharmaceutically acceptable acid addition salts thereof and a process for their preparation. The compounds of the invention are useful as antihypertensive agents.
