The invention relates to a method for producing cables, in which the cable elements provided for transmission are surrounded by strand-shaped supporting elements (bridles) made of plastic. In order to prevent shrinkage of the bridles installed in the cable and thus additional loads on the cable at high temperatures, the plastic bridles are shrunk in a strain-relieved state before they are installed by exposing them to a temperature just below the softening temperature of the respective plastic, annealed at this temperature and then cooled again.
