The process for the electrolytic deposition of gallium or gallium and vanadium from alkaline solutions arising in the production of alumina consists in the electrolysis being carried out employing solid electrodes at a cathode current density of 200-1000 A/m2, a voltage of 3.4-4.5 V, a temperature of 28-37 DEG C in the presence of a metal which was previously introduced into the starting solutions in a 1- to 10-fold excess based on gallium and which in the event of joint electrolytic reduction with gallium forms an alloy therewith which under conditions of the electrolysis does not passivate. The process for the electrolytic deposition of gallium or gallium and a vanadium concentrate from alkaline solutions can be used in the production of alumina.
