In the case of a tent awning for camper vans, in order to be able to exchange strips of tent canvas in need of replacement easily and without having to dismantle the tent framework, hollow profiles, of which the tent awning is constructed, are provided, seen in cross-section, in the corner regions with in each case two retaining grooves which are arranged and designed symmetrically with respect to the diagonal planes of the profile cross-section, which run in the longitudinal direction of the hollow profiles, and whose side walls, formed by a central web and the profile wall sections adjacent thereto, are at an acute angle with respect to the outer surfaces of the neighbouring profile wall sections. On those edges of the strips of tent canvas to be fastened to the tent framework, weather strips are arranged which can be introduced into the retaining grooves through the longitudinal slots thereof and can be clamped between the side walls of said grooves. As a result, the strips of tent canvas can be attached to a framework which has already been assembled, and can also be readily removed from the latter.
