Fragmentation explosive charge having an arrangement for focusing the fragmentation cone of fire

The explosive device has a hollow metal housing (1) which is a volume of revolution. The housing contains an explosive charge, and it is composed of segments (13) separated by lines of weakening (14,16). The latter allow the casing to fragment under the effect of the explosive. The device has charges to direct the shrapnel into a circle (C2) in the symmetry plane of the casing. The fragments follow helical paths which are parallel and move outwardly from the generatrices (15) of the casing.
